Ferry to Kerry:
If you are travelling to Kerry, there is a convenient car ferry across the Shannon estuary departing from Killimer near Kilrush to Tarbet in County Kerry. It’s about a 35 min drive south on the N67. Follow the signposts once you reach Kilrush.
This pleasant 20 minute journey across the Shannon Estuary saves considerable time and mileage over the road alternative and with the added advantage of perhaps spotting a school of dolphins along the way.
If you’d like details of sailings, please ask or look up www.shannonferries.com
Ferry to the Aran Islands:
There are daily sailings to these spectacular islands and it’s a trip we’d readily recommend, particularly Inis Mór and the famous Dun Aengus stone fort.
The best way to see the islands is by bicycle which can be hired on arrival. A leisurely alternative is by pony and trap.
The ferry leaves from Doolin (around 40 mins away) where there are numerous trips available, including the Cliffs of Moher cruise.
